We will start with an unforgettable visit to the Citadel of Saladin. In AH 572/AD 1176, Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi started construction on this castle on Mount Muqattam on what was known as the aerial dome. However, he did not complete it during his lifetime, and Sultan al-Kamil ibn al-Adil (AH 604/AD 1207), who was the first to occupy it, took it as the king's residence. It remained Egypt's seat of government until Khedive Ismail's reign, when he moved it to the king's palace. Up to the reign of Khedive Ismail, it was Egypt's seat of government. After that, we will explore the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the first museum of its kind in Egypt and in the Arab world, as it is considered an integrated global cultural complex that offers its visitors the opportunity to navigate on a journey through history to learn about the successive Egyptian civilizations through 1600 objects exhibited in its central hall, carefully selected to shed light on the material and immaterial heritage of Egypt, as the hall was equipped with digital screens to enhance the interaction of the public with the objects and provide as much information as possible. In addition, the museum's crown jewel, the Royal Mummies Hall, was moved from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and presented to the world in a grand procession on April 3, 2021, in celebration of the museum's opening and in honor of His Excellency the President of the Republic. In April 2022, the Egyptian Textile Room was inaugurated in the museum, which includes a diverse collection of 650 distinctive artifacts, including 250 pieces transferred from the museums of Al-Masry in Tahrir, Islamic Art, Prince Muhammad Ali Palace in Manial, Al-Zariyya in Dokki, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, while the rest of the pieces were displayed at the Textile Museum on Al-Moez Street.
