Your journey will start in Luxor, formerly known as Thebes, Egypt's capital during the Pharaonic period. Luxor is situated on the Nile River, separating Egypt into the Eastern and Western Mainland. Beginning with a tour of the western mainland, we will have the opportunity to visit the Valley of the Kings, which was utilized for 500 years between the sixteenth and eleventh centuries BC to construct tombs for the pharaohs and nobles of the New Kingdom, which spanned the eighteenth through twentieth dynasties of ancient Egypt.
Next, we will investigate the Temple of Hatshepsut, also called the Bahari Monastery, which is a collection of pharaonic tombs and temples situated on the west bank of the Nile across from Luxor, Egypt. Queen Hatshepsut constructed the monastery to carry out ceremonies that would help her in the afterlife. In the seventh century AD, the Copts used this temple as a monastery, and the region was given the present Arabic name Al-Deir Al-Bahri. Next, we will continue our tour of the western land by seeing the two enormous statues of Memnon. They are the only remnants of a temple built in honor of Egypt's king, Pharaoh Amenhotep III, and date to approximately 1350 BC.
Finally, we will take you back to your accommodation.
