Your adventure in Luxor starts
Having been brought from Safaga Port into a modern, luxury air-conditioned vehicle, you will travel comfortably on Luxor's roads. Watch the shift from quiet beaches into fertile Nile banks that provide some glimpses into the diverse landscape of Egypt.
Explore the East Bank: Introduction to the Greatness at Karnak Temple
The first attraction in Luxor is that of the Karnak Temple Complex, that stands in itself as the ancient Egyptian architectural masterpiece and spiritual city. Walk the Avenue of Sphinxes, stop under the great roof uniting ground and sky in hypostyle hall, and behold the towering obelisks that have seen time pass by. You are bemused with the great spirits of Karnak and with its oversized architecture.
Once upon a time, enjoy a short ride across the fabled river Nile to the West Bank of Luxor, which might now equate itself with the Valley of Kings in the scenic but Lindt West of the Nile. Enter into the graves of the mightiest of the rulers of great Egypt and observe all the marvelous hieroglyphics carved and colored murals painting a journey of the pharaohs into eternity. The place has the air of mystery and an invitation I could not resist.
Visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
Now to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut carved into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. This magnificent temple was built for one of the mightiest woman rulers that Egypt had ever known. Inside are stupendous reliefs, pleasing terraces, and towering statues that testify to her glory.
Head Over to Memnon Colossi
Stay here for a moment before you get back into your car-the Colossi of Memnon. The two gigantic statues, which once stood sentinel to a great temple, make interesting testimony to ancient Egyptian artistry and engineering, despite their having stood the taste of millennia.
Return to Safaga Port
Back to Safaga Port for a relaxing trip where you will clutch less than pictures but treasured memories of how magnificent are the gifts that Egypt has to offer.
