Egypt is protected, this is what history confirms and antiquities document. It is protected by its people and its castles, by its beauty and strength. Among its strength and beauty together comes the Citadel of Saladin al-Ayyubi, which some like to call the Citadel of Muhammad Ali.

Start a new day in Cairo with our distinguished company that will provide you with a special day like you. Our vehicle shall drive you to the Saladin Citadel. The Citadel of Saladin, called Citadel of the Mountain, is one of the topmost landmarks of Islamic Cairo. It lies in the Citadel district built on one of the hills flying off Mokattam Mountains at the outskirts of Cairo.

Salah al-Din founded this fortress on a knoll of Mokattam Mountain, and his brother King al-Adil completed it in 1208, with the aim of securing Cairo against potential invasions.

From the Ayyubid era to the end of the Muhammad Ali dynasty, the Citadel of Salah al-Din al-Ayyyubi was not spared from historical events, as it was where many sultans were crowned, where the famous massacre of the Citadel took place, and where armies set out to liberate the Levant from the Crusaders, to conquer Cyprus and others, and also witnessed the fall of the Mamluk state and the control of the Ottoman caliphate over Egypt, and the establishment of the Muhammad Ali dynasty The Citadel houses rare treasures and artifacts, and many secrets within its arms have not been revealed until now.
