After meeting you in front of your unique hotel or cruise ship in Aswan, our representative will take you to the island's boat. You will appreciate this when you first arrive. In 2010, the Edfu Temple's light and sound project was presented. The temple's history, the myth of Horus and his yearly voyage with Hathor (the goddess of Dendera), and the battle of Horus and his mother Isis against the forces of evil are all told in this wonderful movie.
The name ‘Philae’ comes from the Greek word ‘Philae’, which means ‘beloved’, and it was known in Arabic literature as ‘Anas al-Wujood’, after the legend of Anas al-Wujood in the folklore stories ‘One Thousand and One Nights’. The ancient Egyptian and Coptic name is ‘Belak’, which means ‘the limit or the end’ because it was the last border of Egypt in the south.
The ruins of the Temple of Philae include several buildings dating back to the Ptolemaic period, 332-30 BC, most notably the temple begun by Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285-246 BC), which was dedicated to Isis, the mother of Horus, the goddess of royalty, and features a scene in the Mamizi birth chamber, where the birth of Horus was celebrated, showing Isis breastfeeding her son Horus.
After you watch the show you will take the boat ride back to the harbor and from there you will be transferred back to your hotel or Nile Cruise in Aswan.
